About the Speaker: Thomas Herman, Caption Nerds, LLC.
A CART/Captioner, Thomas is a stenographer with a specialty in near-instant realtime translation for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing community as well as others who need or enjoy captions. Thomas is a graduate from the American Captioning Institute and has been providing CART captions since 2016. Thomas is a member of the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) and has written for NCRA's Journal of Court Reporting, and often contributes to social media initiatives to raise awareness of the industry as a whole, but more specifically highlights quality captions for the deaf and hard of hearing community, and others. Thomas is also a published author of some obscure fiction and has written and consulted for InnoCaption. He has also consulted for various ASL firms he’s worked with, assisting them in growing their CART clientele, and volunteers for stenographer associations as his bandwidth permits. His mission statement is simple: Lead with kindness and provide quality captions.
